  • Weight loss, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue.

  • "Weight Loss" is the fifth season premiere of the American comedy television series The Office, and the show's seventy-third (and seventy-fourth) episode overall.

    black tea
  • Tea served without milk or cream

  • fermented tea leaves

  • (Black Teas) Green tea leaves are left to wither or oxidize, which causes the enzymes to break down some of the cellular structure of the leaf. The oxidized leaves are then twisted or rolled and cut then dried by one of many processes.

  • Black tea is a variety of tea that is more oxidized than the oolong, green, and white varieties. All four varieties are made from leaves of Camellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor and contains more caffeine than the less oxidized teas.

  • Tea of the most usual type, that is fully fermented before drying

Green Tea Report: From Weight Loss To Cancer Cure To A Long Life - With A Cup Of Green Tea?

Green Tea Report: From Weight Loss To Cancer Cure To A Long Life - With A Cup Of Green Tea?

Drinking Green Tea
The art of brewing and drinking green tea has been around for centuries. In fact, green tea has been used for many different tea ceremonies in China and Japan. In these countries, there are rituals that must be followed and tools that must be used in brewing tea to be served to guests.

The Power Of Green Tea
Cold summer afternoon, the warmth of the sun rays softly grazing the skin, your loved one by your side and a cup of tea - A perfect setting to love, to care and to freshen up. However, have you ever wondered, what is in a tea that sets the mood for all good things? Well for centuries, it has been man’s favorite beverage.

More About The Benefits From Green Tea
These days we have a plethora of supplements and health products to choose from. I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't take advantage of all these. I certainly do. I started taking a daily multivitamin 12 years ago. Wow, I must be getting old.

Different types of Green Tea
If you try to buy green tea in a supermarket – even in a very large one – the chances are that you’ll only find one kind of green tea: the kind with ‘green tea’ written on the packet. The green tea that these packets contain tends to be of the absolute lowest quality, and so they are best avoided.

Can Green Tea Treat Skin Cancer?
Some of the most promising cancer research going on today involves the use of green tea and its ability to prevent cancer and even treat cancer in patients who have already been diagnosed with the disease. Researchers are examining many possibilities for how green tea might be used, and working to determine the cancer types for which it holds the most promise.

Curb Cravings With Green Tea: Helps The Body Burn Fat
Green tea has a long history of healthful benefits and its qualities are significantly more effective than black tea. Both teas come from the carnellia sinensis plant but green tea leaves are steamed rather than fermented like black and oolong teas. This prevents a powerful anti-oxidant, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), from being oxidized and therefore diminished.

Green Tea: The Japanese Secret To Good Health
The investigation into alternative cancer therapies often begins by examining the cultures of specific nations in an effort to determine whether diet or other customs could help unlock the secret to curing this dreaded disease. Since green tea has been a staple of the Japanese diet for centuries, it’s not surprising that new attention is being paid to the tea’s therapeutic benefits.

Miss Watts's shop

Miss Watts's shop

When my mother's family moved to Downend in 1928, flocks of sheep were still driven past the windows of their house in North Street. Here and there among the terraces of Victorian bay-windowed houses could be identified the cottages of a former age, when the street had been part of the lane connecting the hamlets of Downend and Kingswood. One of these had been extended over its front garden to form a tiny shop and cafe. When I was a boy its proprietor had been Mr Watts. When he died it passed to his daughter Peggy.
Our house was on a corner and at about 10 o'clock every morning the Mangotsfield Urban District Council's entire fleet of hopper-sided dustcarts used to assemble in the road at the side of our house while its crews took their morning tea break in Miss Watts's little cafe.
Miss Watts was not fond of children, which was unfortunate since a large part of her business was generated by the school on the opposite side of the road. There were two daily peak periods, at just before nine in the morning and at about ten past four in the afternoon, when the tiny shop would be crammed to the door with confectionery-crazed children, who clustered around the counter in scenes reminiscent of a bar at "last orders". Miss Watts's manner at these times was brittle. Since she was on friendly terms with my mother, she was under an obligation to be pleasant towards me ...but it was sometimes clearly an effort. Often I kept her waiting for ten minutes for a sale of one penny, dithering between a Sour Grapes bubble gum (a powerful flavour surge and, in its secondary, flavourless state, of indefinite duration ...but costing the entire penny), and one of the various four-a-penny sweets such as Black Jacks or Fruit Salads, which seemed better value for money but were soon gone. You had to weigh it all up. Once, after she had stood, transferring her weight from one leg to the other for a full quarter hour, her patience finally ran out. "Come on, hurry up", she snapped. It was quite a shock.
At one stage a young male customer was often to be found lingering in the shop, chatting across the top of the ice cream cabinet, with its stickers advertising Walls Mivvi (a favourite treat of mine, usually only affordable when visiting aunts presented me with a sixpence) and Neilson's choc ices. My sister claimed to have entered the shop and interrupted a kiss. But eventually this suitor disappeared from the scene. Miss Watts remained a spinster.
Even when I was a child this seemed to me a dead-loss business. Yet from time to time a notice would appear on the door informing customers that the shop would be closed for two weeks while Miss Watts took a lone foreign holiday. Once it was Rome and, another time, Florida ...this, of course, many years before Disneyland and mass package holidays. But there came a time when suppliers declined to deliver because it was "not worth their while". She eventually sold the premises and retired to a bungalow in Buckingham Gardens. One day, returning home after some shopping, she suffered a heart attack on the threshold and was, according to accounts that circulated the district, "dead before she hit the ground".
When I took this photo on Friday 14th April 1989, the shop was empty and awaiting demolition. Miss Watts claimed that the structure was 16th century, but this seemed to me to be pushing it a bit. 18th perhaps, and probably contemporary with the two cottages next door and the White Swan public house just beyond. At about this time I went with my mother (who had Miss Watts's permission) to look at the back of the shop. We entered by the side gate. There was a path laid with ancient setts, leading to a cobbled yard with out-buildings made from correctly mortared hand-made bricks. Metal rings were set into the walls for tethering horses. There was a lovely umbrageous garden, of which Miss Watts had been extremely fond, now becoming neglected and overgrown. All this was demolished for a couple of unpleasant, pastey-faced flats.

Burro Herd Red Rock Canyon

Burro Herd Red Rock Canyon

A herd of wild burros being rounded up by helicopter near the Red Rock Canyon just outside Vegas. The helicopter is just out of frame to the right and was buzzing the herd to keep them away from roads and out of direct contact with humans. These animals are ideally suited to survive in the incredibly tough conditions in the high desert: searing heat, little water and extreme cold at night.

Burro is really a Mexican term but is commonly used in the Southwest when referring to wild donkeys. Here is some additional information on them:

Wild Burros range through a wide variety of desert habitats as along as they are within 10 miles of drinking water.

Description
The Wild Burro was first introduced into the Desert Southwest by Spaniards in the 1500s. Wild Burros have long ears, a short mane and reach a height of up to 5 feet at the shoulders. They vary in color from black to brown to gray.

Originally from Africa (where they were called the Wild Ass) these pack animals were prized for their hardiness in arid country. They are sure-footed, can locate food in barren terrain and can carry heavy burdens for days through hot, dry environments.

Wild Burros can tolerate a water loss as much as 30% of their body weight, and replenish it in only 5 minutes drinking. (Humans require medical attention if 10% of body weight is lost to dehydration and require a full day of intermittent drinking to replenish this loss.)

Habits
Wild Burros feed on a variety of of plants, including grasses, Mormon Tea, Palo Verde and Plantain. Although some moisture is provided by these plant materials, Wild Burros must have drinking water throughout the year. They can usually be seen foraging for food during daytime, except for summers, when they will forage only at night and in the early morning.

Life Cycle
Female Wild Burros give birth to one colt each year, which grows to an average weight of about 350 pounds. Since the Wild Burro has no natural predator, competitor or common diseases, most young burros reach maturity and may live as long as 25 years in the wild.

Early prospectors relied heavily on burros as they trekked long distances across the deserts in search of gold and silver. Many of these burros survived, even though their owners perished under the harsh desert conditions. Many more burros escaped or were released during the settlement of the West. Because of their hardiness, Wild Burros have thrived throughout the North American deserts, and their numbers have increased to perhaps 20,000.

That is a tall order, but as the world’s leading tea producer, LIPTON® is committed to sourcing all of their tea from sustainably managed farms. LIPTON® is proud that their Kericho, Kenya estate has been Rainforest Alliance Certified™. In addition, they expect that by 2015, all tea in LIPTON® tea bags sold globally will have been grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified estates.
The Rainforest Alliance is a nonprofit conservation organization that works to conserve biodiversity and protects the rights and welfare of workers, their families, and communities. Farms that meet the standards of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), an international coalition of leading conservation groups, are eligible to earn the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal. Rainforest Alliance Certified farms balance the three aspects of sustainability that conserve the environment, protect the rights and welfare of workers, their families, and communities and help farms to operate efficiently and cost-effectively.
